Shinchi Town in Fukushima Prefecture has been actively engaged in initiatives aimed at recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, the elimination of reputational damage, revitalization of the local community, and the enhancement of exchange population. Since 2023, a series of events and tours have been organized to allow visitors to directly experience the town’s unique appeal and to gain a better understanding of its current conditions and safety, thereby mitigating persistent misconceptions. This paper presents the development of a virtual museum for “SHINCHI Art Fes 2024” as part of these ongoing efforts.

This paper reports on the educational practice of "design of play" conducted in 2022. Under the theme of "everyday actions," the students constructed rules based on their own experiences and transformed them into play. concept of cooperative learning based on mutual help, and introduced a system that allows people to help each other within the group, even though it is an individual production. As a result, the students were able to share their own experiences and skills, creating more innovative play than in 2021.

There are two types of Workshops our laboratory has designed: the first is a workshop aimed at User Experience Design of Application Software, and the second is a workshop aimed at discussions between participants. In fiscal 2021, a group of students from our laboratory has designed a “Workshop to discuss life amid the COVID-19 pandemic”. This Workshop is characterized by engaging in a dialogue about and coming up with ideas about the lifestyle that they want to maintain after COVID-19 pandemic eases. This paper reports on the design process of this Workshop from academic supervisor’s perspective on design education.

This study involved the educational practice of "Design for Play" for third-year university students studying design from 2019 to 2021. Students work in groups on the theme of "Design for Play". The "Design for Play" process is based on the process of human-centered design, and we believe that students were able to learn about the design process through "Design for Play. In addition, the class practiced in this study focused on the "observation" phase of the design process, and was designed to allow students to observe "play" itself from various perspectives through group discussions on "what play is" and "what is fun. We believe that this will help students to realize the importance of discovering and defining issues in design.

User experience (UX) design is one of the important challenges in software development. The subject of this study is Barrier Walking UX design for elderly group. Barrier Walking means to walk intentionally using common barriers encountered by them on a daily basis as a preventive approach in long-term care. In this document, we are delivering the survey results on day service centers and nursing care centers and proposing the UX design that would be the motivation of walking.
In development of software, User Experience (UX) Design is becoming an important issue. Here, we report about a practical workshop as a case of UX Design in ‘Barrier Walking’. Barrier Walking is a walking to add right amount of stress to the muscles by intentionally using ‘Barriers’ existing in your daily life such as gaps, stairs, slopes and hills. Currently, independence and self-help of the elderly is a social issue, and their muscle weakness resulted from homebound and exercise-lacking daily lives is regarded as problematic. We, thus, designed UX of Barrier Walking for the purpose of preventing muscle weakness of the elderly.

I took a particular note on a new technique, that is, “rehabilitation using barrier”. The purpose of this technique is to support self-reliance of the elderly people. I thought a walking course map would be useful for self-reliance of the elderly people. The reason is that walking is adopted for the purpose of recreation at the nursing home and that there will be no additional need to prepare a new facility. In this study, the welfare unit and the design unit, in collaboration, undertook various surveys and designed a walking course map.

Collaboration between designers and software engineers is a key issue in the development of mobile applications. This research holds workshops using prototypes in order for the software development. There are 4 purposes for that; (1) the verification of designs by the designers, the software engineers and the users as well as the discovery of possibilities for new design, (2) obtaining a common language for the designers and the software engineers to collaborate, (3) the education of new members and (4) User Experience Design, which has been added this time. In this report, (4) the effectiveness of the workshops for User Experience Design of mobile applications will be described.
For computer-aided design of information equipment, collaboration between designers and software engineers is an important issue. Moreover, there is a problem that it is difficult for a new member to share information. In this paper, we introduce the trial workshop under an agile software development process to share information with new members. We made a prototype of software for investigative design, and used it in a workshop with a new member. The result of that, the new member realized the concept of the project deeply.

For computer-aided design of information equipment, collaboration between designers and software engineers is an important issue. However, it is generally difficult to coordinate design and software development. This paper introduces examples of good collaboration between designers and engineers during a short software development period using three case examples related to the development of the prototype software "Design of Information Space". We developed this prototype software with Squeak using agile software development as a reference.

The goal of the project has been to explore how we can educate design students more effectively for pragmatic interaction designers. In the project, the authors have been developing software as a functional prototype, and students can evaluate their design through experiencing interaction of the application in the actual use context. The lessons learned through this project will be discussed.

People's communication consists of "Central communication" that is message to someone to talk to and "Marginal communication" that is message transmission for people in the surrounding. This paper introduces several findings and proposals derived from an experimentation of generating "Marginal communication" with a software prototype of "A Presentation Tool for Group Activity." Three points (1) Extraction of marginal message from central message, (2) marginal message as meta information of the communication, (3) degree of interest for the marginal message on the people who is outside of the group are discussed.

It is difficult that one expects fruitful usage of information system while the system has been engineered and installed in the society. For activate the usage it would be important that people realizes existence of the system, knows the performance and ways of use it, and has intentions of the using. Those, social cultural factors of the designing system might not be directly achieved from the technology system. In this paper, a practice of constructing patterns of using "Tokachi Agriculture Museum system" designed by our group is introduced. Variables of the technology system and social cultural programs for "Platform" configurations derived from a experimented collaborative workshop of expressions are discussed.

Among those, using the computer and the portable telephone, the wide generation expresses the experience of the individual with the photograph or composition releases, the activity which shares those has become active. And at the time of accumulating the experience record on Internet, if the record group how is expressed, is easy to understand, that you can call the problem which you say in addition whether to handle easy it becomes, important topic of information design. In this research, the design of the "space-time mapping tool" which enables the inspection of record by a place and time is introduced by visualizing accumulation of experience record of people.
