    ABSTRACT

    Pile‐supported wharves (PSW) are vital for port infrastructure, making seismic resilience essential for regional economic stability. Shake table testing is fundamental to evaluating PSW seismic performance, with large‐scale specimens required to accurately replicate prototype pile materials and pile‐deck connections. However, the use of heavy‐load soil boxes consumes much of the table's load capacity, limiting high‐level PGA seismic excitation. Additionally, the scaling effects of the soil complicate the accurate simulation of pile‐soil interactions. To address this, an offline real‐time substructure shake table testing (offline RSST) is proposed, eliminating the need for the soil box and enabling high‐level PGA excitation for large‐scale specimens. In this method, the PSW is divided at the soil surface; the foundation is modeled as a simplified amplifier providing lateral stiffness, and together with the superstructure forms the wharf substructure (WS). The input to the WS is adjusted via an offline FFT/IFFT procedure to replicate the prototype's response. Numerical validation for a batter‐pile PSW showed frequency domain errors of 3.1% in deck acceleration and 1.4% in batter‐pile axial force. Subsequent 1:10 large‐scale shake table tests further validated the method, demonstrating accurate replication of key responses under multi‐level excitation and providing a practical framework for seismic performance assessment of PSW.

    This article analyzes the spatial layout in Japanese nursing homes, and to clarify the core space and spatial characteristics of the common facility. By using the Space Syntax DepthMapX tool, we analyzed 62 nursing homes from Japanese architecture publications. Then, we use the spatial integration metric to identify the core space and transition of the common core facilities. The result shows the core space changed from the corridor in the 1980s to the hall nowadays; the community space and physical training room have also become the common core facility in Japanese nursing homes.

    Abstract. When designing a building's active vibration control, it is necessary to properly evaluate the effect on the control effect caused by changes in vibration characteristics due to aging deterioration and damage. However, although the previous designs have certain robustness against changes in vibration characteristics, they have insufficient on these control effect. In this paper, we establish a method based on deep learning to identify changes in vibration characteristics. Using this method, we can achieve to prevent reduction of the active control effect.

    The damping estimation of an eight-story steel building equipped with oil dampers is examined, carried out by adopting a proposed framework, which consists of an enhanced strain-energy method and an improved direct method for model updating. The building is located at Tohoku Institute of Technology and is equipped with a structural monitoring system that measures its seismic response, including floor acceleration and displacement and force of oil dampers. The enhanced strain-energy method is first developed and employed to assess the supplemental damping and stiffness provided by oil dampers, herein quantified in the form of equivalent damping ratios and natural frequencies. Then, modal characteristics extracted from the earthquake measurements are modified accordingly and utilized for the building model updating, in which mass and stiffness matrices are corrected by the improved direct method. The updated model accurately reproduces the target modal data, especially measured mode participation factors, and is further used for the building response predictions. Through prediction validations, the precision of the modified modal parameters is verified. Finally, a large earthquake event is chosen to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework for the damping estimation of the investigated building.

    実構造物を用いて制振装置が有効かどうかを確かめるために、長期間の地震記録の蓄積が重要となり、補修手法の有効性の確認においても重要な資料なる。このような地震記録を蓄積するのは、本研究の一つの目的である、そして現状よりも有効な補修手法を検討し、より高い耐震性能を有する免制震装置を開発・設置することも視野に入れ、新しい補修方法を検討し提案することは、本研究の二つめの目的である。さらに、加速度から変位を抽出して構造物の性能を同定する手法の検討も、構造物のヘルスモニタリングシステムの構築に重要な方法であり、その最適な手法を探すのも本研究の三つめの目的である。
    今回は、研究初年度であるが、いくつかの研究成果を上げてきている。
    実地震記録の蓄積においては仙台で起きた地震の記録を蓄積してきているが、特徴を有する地震が発生していないため、構造物の耐震性能の指標の固有振動数及び最大増幅率の変化の公表は控えている。これからできたら震度4以上の地震データを用いて対象構造物の性能変化について検討する予定である。
    そして現在の耐震手法よりも有効な耐震装置の開発に関しては、セルフバランス式の回転マスダンパーの開発は成功し、昨年の12月により振動台での制振実験を行い、その成果の一部を、日本建築学会2019年大会に公表する予定である。さらに新型の制振装置も設計図まで出来上がり、これから実物を作成する予定である。
    加速度より変位及び層間角を算出するについて検討中であり、現時点で最適手法の開発まで達成していない。
