    The approach to calculate the transfer efficiency by using scattering matrix has been formulated in [1]-[4] already. The method isn't limited on the field whatever it's near field or far field, electric field or magnetic field, it can be widely applied to any structures of transmitting or receiving elements. Because the scattering matrix can be correctly calculated by EM software or measured by network analyzer, the efficiency obtained the scattering matrix has higher accuracy than other approximated method. Moreover, the matching circuit can be designed from the scattering matrix by using matching condition. The matching circuit for practical wireless power transfer system will be designed and demonstrated by using scattering matrix in this report. Additionally, the effect on the transfer efficiency of the wireless power transfer system from loss of the matching circuit will be analyzed and the difference and relationship between the matching circuit and resonate will be compared.

    Rectifying efficiency is extremely important parameter in wireless power transfer system. The rectifier's efficiency is affected by diode's saturation current, threshold voltage, breakdown voltage, topology of rectifier and other components in rectify circuit. In this paper, we took up a double-current rectifier, estimated rectifier's impedance using Moebius transformation, and designed L-type impedance matching circuit. Furthermore, the efficiency of rectifier with matching circuit is investigated by simulation and reported in this report.

    We proposed approach to improve power transfer efficiency (PTE) for near field wireless power transfer (WPT) when the PTE is degraded due to the location misalignment of antennas. The termination load of parasitic elements are varied to adjust the input impedance of antennas for re-match the impedance when the location misalignment occurs. It is demonstrated the PTE is increased by varying and selecting the termination status by numerical simulation.

    In method of moments (MoM), large computing time consumption is a serious problem for solving a large-scale matrix equation. To overcome this problem, Graphics Processing Units (GPU) have been used for acceleration of matrix equation solver in recent years. In GPU computing, it is assumed that assignment of numerical operation to each processor, memory access scheme by each processor and assignment of numerical operation between CPU and GPU should be optimized for reduction of computing time. In this report, Conjugate Gradient (CG) method is accelerated by optimized GPU and its computing time is quantitatively evaluated.

    A planar dual-antenna system (DAS), composed of series-fed microstrip antenna and planar Yagi-Uda antenna, is proposed for eliminating blind spots in mobile communications system. The planar DAS is developed as a passive reflector in a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment. Broad-angle scattering and polarization transition can be realized. Equivalent bi-static radar cross section (BRCS) is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the DAS in eliminating blind spots and improving the propagation channel under the NLOS environment.

    For numerical analysis of large-scale antennas, large CPU time is required for solving linear systems in Method of Moments (MoM). In recent years, GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) has been applied to reduce the CPU time of the MoM. In this report, the CPU time of sweep out method and CGNR (Conjugate Gradient method applied to the Normal equations where the Residu is minimized) method on the GPU is compared with that on the CPU. It is demonstrated quantitatively that the GPU can reduce the CPU time of the MoM.

    A fundamental study is focused to investigate the power transmission efficiency of the wireless power transmission system by near-field coupling from a view point of antenna theory. Two types of antennas, dipole and loop antennas, are used as the transmitting antennas and receiving antennas for electrical near-field coupling and for magnetic near-field coupling, respectively. The relation is clarified between the power transmission efficiency and antenna geometry, antenna electrical size, impedance matching of the antennas, and ohmic loss in antennas and impedance matching circuits. Seveal observations have been obtained to demonstrate the influence on the power transmission efficiency from the impedance matching and ohmic loss in the wireless power transmission system by near-field coupling.

    In this paper, combined with MoM, the equivalent excitations for the lumped impedances are used to investigate the performance of loaded antenna such as ESPAR antenna. The equivalent method is an effcient method because there is no need to calculate the inverse matrix of a dense impedance matrix repeatly when the loads vary. Moreover, the equivalent excitation caused by the variated loads can be obtained by extracting the part of the admittance matrix which is calculated by MoM when the antenna without any load, reducing the computational time greatly especially when the number of loads is much less than the number of the segments in MoM. The validity of the equivalent method is confirmed by comparing with the results obtained by conventional MoM.

    In this report, the MIMO performance of modulated scattering antenna array (MSAA) is analyzed numerically based on an approach to hybridization of the Volterra series method and method of moments (MoM). The main feature of the hybrid method is its efficiency in dealing with problems involving the weakly nonlinear loads and multitone excitations. Moreover, mutual coupling effect between the Modulated scattering element (MSE) and the normal antenna element is also considered in this analysis. It is found that MIMO performance of MSAA is improved with reducing the array spacing of MSAA. At the same time, the simulated results of the MSAA are compared with that of two-dipole antenna array at the same condition.

    In mobile communications in urban area, it is a significant problem that blind spots of in the narrow street are caused by high buildings. In our previous works, a reflectarray antenna was developed to solve the problem. However, the gain of reflectarray becomes very low when a very broad scattering angle is required. In this research, a new dual-antenna system is proposed, including a receiving and a reradiating antenna to realize a broad-angle beam control. An equivalent bistatic radar cross section (BRCS) is deduced to evaluate the antenna performance.

    S-parameters which are obtained by the method of moment (MoM) or by the measurement are used to calculate the transmission efficiency of wireless power transmission (WPT) system in this report. In order to obtain the transmission efficiency of WPT system as high as possible, the effects from the load of the receiving element and the conducting loss, the structure of the transmitting antenna and receiving antenna, are investigated in detail by both numerical simulation and experiment. It has been found that if the conducting loss for the electrically small antenna is treated correctly in full-wave based numerical analysis, the calculated transmission efficiencies agree with the measurement ones within a several percent error. Comparing with 2-small loops WPT system, our proposed WPT system can offer stable power to charge the electronic devices in a wider area.

    The modulated scattering antenna array (MSAA), based on the modulated scattering technique (MST) is composed of one normal antenna element and several modulated scattering elements (MSEs). In this report, the performance of MSAA with various array spacing is measured to investigate the relation between the array spacing and performance of a 2-element MSAA experimentally in the Rayleigh fading environment when the antenna is assumed to be used on a mobile terminal. It is found that both diversity gain and MIMO channel capacity can be improved by reducing array spacing.

    A strip model is incorporated in the volume-surface integral equation (VSIE) to simplify the analysis of the probe-fed conformal microstrip antennas (CMSA) with arbitrary shapes. The thin wire-surface junction of the feeding probe and the patch is transferred to the surface-surface junction that can be modeled by using Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) basis functions easily. Thus, the use of complicated attachment mode basis function in the conventional VSIE is eliminated, which simplifies the calculation of the method of moments (MoM) matrix. The construction of RWG basis functions at the surface-surface junction is detailed as well. An effective remedy is also proposed to overcome the computation breakdown in the near-singularity treatment when the field point locates at the extension of one side of the source domain. Numerical results show the reliability and accuracy of the proposed method.

    A more practical wireless transmission system consisting of a larger rectangular wire loop and a small square wire loop with a parasitic square helical coil is proposed for efficient evanescent resonant coupling wireless power transmission system in a office room. The power transmission efficiency is directly defined as the ratio of the receiving power at the receiving element and the input power at the source element and calculated by the full wave solver. The resonant frequency of the system is proposed to be tuned from investigating the input impedance of transmitting element and receiving element as an antenna design usually carries out. The simulation results show the transmission power efficiency can exceed 60% when the proposed system is used to charge only one user, the simulation results also investigate the effects of the position, the number of receiving element and the human body on the power transmission efficiency and the resonant frequency in detail in order to obtain the design guidelines for a practical wireless power system.

    本論文では,電流セグメント間の自己・相互インピーダンスの一般式から,線状モノポールの端部電荷の有無による線状モノポール間の自己.相互インピーダンの定式化を行い,端部電荷の有無と過去の研究で与えられた式との関係を数学と物理の両面から考察する.また,端部電荷を含めた線状モノポール間の自己・相互インピーダンスから,直方体モノポールセグメント間の自己・相互インピーダンスを導出し,更に式に含まれる五重積分を単積分に変形する.数値計算例を通して,定式化された直方体モノポールセグメント間の自己・相互インピーダンスの妥当性と計算時間の短縮化効果を検証している.最後に,誘電体を含めたアンテナのモーメント法解析を行い,本手法の妥当性と有効性を示している.

    Simultaneous switching noise (SSN) on the power/ground planes is becoming one of the major bottleneck for designing the high speed mix-signal system. In this paper, a new planar electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure embedded in power plane is proposed for ultra-wideband SSN suppression in multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs). The SSN suppression bandwidth is broadened to cover almost the whole noise band. Full-wave simulations and experiments are performed to verify the broadband SSN suppression and high performance.

    The modulated scattering array antenna (MSAA) is composed of one normal antenna element and several modulated scattering elements (MSE). In this report, a 2-element MSAA is used as the receiving antenna in a 2 by 2 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system. The MIMO performance of the MSAA with various array spacing is measured to investigate experimentally the relation between the array spacing and the MIMO performance of the MSAA in the Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) indoor environment. It is found that the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) and the Channel Capacity which reflect the MIMO performance can be affected by the array spacing. Furthermore, the EVM is complementary with the channel capacity.

    The conductivity, the thickness and the surface roughness of conductor have been thought the factors which perhaps affect the radiation efficiency. In this paper, the effects of these factors on antenna radiation efficiency will be investigated by using a lossy planar dipole numerically. In the first part of this paper, a full-wave MoM based on 3-dimensional volume integral equation (VIE-MoM) is used to calculate the radiation efficiency to investigate the effect caused by the conductor thickness. The radiation efficiencies are further compared with those obtained by MoM based on 2-dimensional integral equation where the conductor loss is included in the surface impedance(SI-MoM). It is shown that the radiation efficiency decreases when the conductor becomes thinner. Although the radiation efficiency calculated by the VIE-MoM disagrees with that obtained by SI-MoM for most conductivity and thickness, there are no significant difference between two radiation efficiencies when the conductivity of the conductor approaches to the copper's one. In the second part of this paper, the surface impedance is modified to include the effect of moisture standing in the surface roughness by using transmission line theory. It is found that radiation efficiency is reduced when the conductor is covered with a water layer whose thickness is in order of several μms.

    In this research, single integral expressions of the mutual impedance between two parallel and perpendicular volume sinusoidal monopoles are derived from the expressions of mutual impedance between wire monopoles, with full consideration of endpoint charges of the monopoles. It is demonstrated that the CPU time for solving single integral expressions is much less than that for solving conventional five-dimensional integral. Good convergence of numerical integration of the self-impedance solved by single integral expression is also shown in some numerical examples.

    In this research, electromagnetic analysis of 3-D dielectric body is carried out by using the MoM. The unknown polarization current in dielectric body is expanded into rectangular blocks with overlapping volume sinusoidal functions. To accelerate the matrix-solving CPU time, the whole dielectric volume model is divided into many smaller overlapping volume sub-regions and iterative algorithm, where the overlapping volume sub-region is treated as the iteration unit, is applied to solving the matrix equation in the MoM. Some numerical results are given to show that the CPU time for solving unknown currents can be reduced effectively by multi-region iterative method.

    It has been demonstrated that the MUSIC-based direction of arrical (DOA) estimation can be carried out correctly by using the universal steering vector (USV) even a the presence of the mutual coupling between array elements. In this paper, the relationship between USV and conventional steering vector (CSV) which corresponds to the array factor is described, and moreover the relationship of USV and the practical steering vector or manifold including both the mutual coupling between array elements and the gain/phase errors of RF channels is investigated. The numerical simulation results show that the numerical USV can be obtain very good accuracy for MUSIC-based DOA estimation if the effect only comes from array configuration such as the mutual coupling between array elements and reflector, elements position and so on. The experimental result shows that the steering vector including all effects can estimate DOA correctly and also demonstrates that the practical steering vector can be obtained by multiplying the numerical USV with a DOA-independent compensation matrix.

    In this research, expressions of the self/mutual impedance between two parallel and perpendicular volume sinusoidal monopoles are derived. Because the expressions include one-dimensional integrations and there is no singularity in the integration, they can be easily and rapidly evaluated numerically. Some numerical results of the mutual impedance are given to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of these expressions. These expressions are useful in analysis of antennas including dielectric material by using the volume integral equation method.

    This paper presents a fast and accurate analysis of large-scale periodic array antennas by conjugate-gradient fast Fourier transform (CG-FFT) combined with an equivalent sub-array preconditioner. The impedance matrix can be transformed to a structure of Three-level Block Toeplitz Matrices by using of the periodic structure of array antenna. The Three-level Block Toeplitz Matrices are further transformed to Circulant Matrix, whose multiplication with a vector can be fast implemented by one-dimension (1-D) fast Fourier transform (FFT). Thus, the conjugate-gradient fast Fourier transform (CG-FFT) is successfully applied to the analysis of a large-scale periodic dipole array. Furthermore, an equivalent sub-array preconditioner is proposed to combine with the CG-FFT analysis to reduce iterative steps and the whole CPU-time of the iteration. Some numerical results are given to illustrate the high efficiency and accuracy of the present method.

    In this study, the effect of Indoor environment on the performance of a W-CDMA adaptive array antenna (AAA) for mobile terminals is investigated experimentally. A W-CDMA AAA receiving system for a 4-element array antenna is developed and used to measure the BER performance in indoor experiment. The experimental results have demonstrated the AAA can improve the SIR significantly compared with the single antenna.

    So called universal steering vector (USV) whose element is equivalent to array element pattern is applied to the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation by multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The relationship between USV and conventional steering vector (CSV) is shown that the USV can be regarded as the CSV compensated by the inverse of the mutual coupling matrix which is a dynamic matrix depending on each searching direction and polarization and includes theoretically all mechanical and electrical errors of array elements. It is obviously that the estimation error of DOA due to the mutual coupling effect between array elements is compensated by using the USV. Simulation of DOA estimation for 6 element dipole and 2 element monopole-PIFA array antenna are carried out to compare the accuracy obtained by the USV, the CSV and the Dandekar's [5] methods. The received voltages are also measured at the terminals of 4 element array antenna consisting of two monopole antennas and two loop antennas on a rectangular conducting plane, and are used to DOA estimation to demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the present method.

    A new iterative algorithm based on the Gauss-Seidel iteration method is proposed to solve the matrix equation in the MoM analysis of the array antennas. In the new algorithm, the impedance matrix is decomposed into a number of sub matrices, which describe the self and mutual impedance between the groups of the array, and each sub matrix is regarded as a basic iteration unit rather than the matrix element in the ordinary Gauss-Seidel iteration method. The new iterative algorithm is applied to solve the patch antenna array to show the validity of the method.

    The characteristics of adaptive array antennas are strongly affected not only by the beam control algorithms, but also by the element configuration, the size of the ground plate. Four kinds of patch antennas are studied by using the FDTD method. The scanning characteristics of patterns for several arrays are investigated in details in order to determine the suitable configuration used for the array antenna of mobile handset. Furthermore, the XPD in the scanning plane and nutual coupling between elements are calculated. Finally, the effect of the ground size on the radiation pattern of array antenna is investigated in order to determine the optimum size of the ground plate for the beam control of the arrays.

It is found that the new model includes the effect of the length of driving gap and the solution from the new source model is more accurate and more stable than that from the conventional source models. The proposed source model is simple and easy to use. This source model, together with the full kernel formulation, makes it possible to analyze the linear dipole antennas with no limitation of ratio of segment length to radius.

    A new structure of the planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) is proposed. In this structure, a λ/4 short cover is loaded behind the ground plane. By the numerical simulation using the FDTD method, it is found that the PIFA with the λ/4 short cover has a higher radiation efficiency than the conventional PIFA when it is used for the portable telephone antenna in the vicinity of the human body.

    The empirical formula f=c/4(L+W+H) (1) has been applied to determine the resonant frequency of the planar inverted F antenna(PIFA) shown in Fig.1. However, this formula can not take account of the effect of the location of the short-pin. In this report, the transmission line model (TLM) is applied to investigate the resonant frequency of a PIFA. An approximate expression for the resonant frequency which takes account of the position of the short-pin is established. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data.

    The resonant frequency of the planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) is calculated by solving a transcendental equation obtained by using the transmission line model (TLM). An alpproximated expression for the resonant frequency of the PIFA is developed from the transcendental equation. The validity of the approximated expression is confirmed by comparing the numerical results with experimental data.

    Usually, the practical application of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system handles power of several watts to several thousand watts. The power used in WPT is much larger than that in wireless communication, therefore there are strong concerns from society regarding WPT applications’ safety. In this research, from the viewpoint of dispelling social concerns about the safety of WPT system, we attempted to visualize the electromagnetic field of the WPT system by combining electromagnetic field analysis, measurement technology and augmented reality AR (Augmented Reality) technology. At last, this research will help to grasp the distribution of electromagnetic fields around the WPT system in real time to accelerate the spread of the WPT technology and make the users to confirm the safety of the WPT system.

    A approach was developed to calculate the scattering matrix of the antennas in the near-field wireless power transfer system in a complex environment by using the method of moments to design the system with the maximum power transfer efficiency, Loosy matching circuits were successfully designed to improve the impedance matching condition. A method was proposed to compensate the change of input impedance of the antennas to solve the problem of efficiency reduction due to the change of the relative distance and position between the transmitting and receiving antennas in the system. In the proposed system, a parasitic array with a impedance switch in each array element is electrically controlled.

    This research makes it possible to implement moment method algorithm in GPU which was ever required by using the super computer with the very expensive cost. The developed moment method algorithm takes into account the large scale numerical analysis with the dielectrics. Definitely, it is hopeful that our electromagnetic analysis of a large model and acceleration algorithm can be applied to a lot of larger scale applications, such as a new artificial electromagnetic materials, space power generation systems, and communication, scattering / radiation problems including people, cars, ships and planes, and so on
